This morning you probably washed your face and brushed your teeth in water from the tap, without paying any attention to it. For one billion people that is just a dream.

It is easy to ignore a problem you don’t experience. You think that the water problem is somewhere else, or belongs to someone else – very far from you. Think again. Water is a collective resource. The earth is a closed system and you don’t get new water when the old is polluted. And you can’t rebalance the system of nature when the resources have been exploited.

The rain that is falling in Gothenburg today will be snow in the Alps next week or floating down the Mississippi River next month. Unfortunately, it will not appear as safe drinking water in the small villages of Mali any day soon. And that is our problem, because we are in this together.
