Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre
The Astra Tech World Congress 2012 will be held at "Svenska Mässan", the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre in Gothenburg. It is one of the most effective venues for meetings, conferences and exhibitions in Northern Europe. The centre also owns and operates Gothia Towers, the largest hotel in Scandinavia and one of Sweden's largest restaurant operations, including the highly reputed Heaven 23 and Italian-style Incontro.
The exhibition and congress complex enjoys a unique location downtown Gothenburg, one of the largest cities in Scandinavia, making it especially attractive for creating and cultivating business contacts during exhibitions, congresses and major events.
The Göteborg Opera
The Göteborg Opera opened in 1994 and is beautifully located in the harbor. The opera house is home to not only opera, but also dance and musicals. The opera has two stages, the Small Stage and the Main Stage, which is 500 square meters (5,380 square feet), and it houses a library with 15 metric tons of sheet music library. The Göteborg Opera has 250,000 visitors per year and about 270 performances are given on the different stages.
Scandinavium
Scandinavium is one of Northern Europe’s premier indoor arenas and is the second largest indoor arena in Sweden. The arena was built in 1971 and receives over 700 000 visitors every year. It is located right next door to the Swedish Exhibition Centre. Some of the famous acts that have performed in Scandinavium include Whitney Houston, The Rolling Stones, Harry Belafonte, Bob Dylan, Deep Purple, Eric Clapton, Queen, Prince, Bryan Adams, Tina Turner, Back Street Boys, Sting, and AC/DC.
